LOVE Learns to Let Go

It's been a monumental week over at our house.
Yours truly has passed the milemarkers of
a few parenting rites of passage.

Our oldest daughter, Meghan, packed her bags,
jumped in our car and headed off to follow her dreams.
College-bound since she cut her first tooth,
she has been waiting for this moment for a long, long time.

We underestimated how hard it would be on our little ones.
Thank you for the Rice Krispy treats Nana!

She's been out on her own since last fall,
so I was surprised how emotionally taxing it was
on my mom- heart to take my child to college.
Her brothers and sister took it pretty hard too.
There were lots of tears.
She seems to be doing much better now.

Amazing what a couple of days and a Skype account can do.

Her teddy bear peeking out through a cardboard box of her things.

We had her dorm room decorated and organized lickety-split!

Less than twenty four hours later, we were at our local DMV,
while our son David took and passed his driver's test.

Introducing the State of California's newest driver.

Another area of letting go for me.

This week, over at our house, LOVE is learning to let go.

That letting go is hard, but you are right in the fact that you do it in love!

Tumultuous times, huh! Bitter-sweet, precious. I love that your daughter's bible's resting place is just over her head. She will sleep under the Word each night.

Hi! Joanne, precious post! I remember when my middle son left for college, I can still see the truck pass in front of the house! I think I broke into a million pieces. Oh! I know!! May God watch over your daughter. Have a great Thursday:).

Letting go is so hard. There's a part of me that want's to keep them young forever, but then they will miss out on all of the exciting things God has planned for their lives. Wishing your daughter the best of luck. Congratulations to your son!

I'm feeling this post. I helped my son move in his dorm last week. He is many states away. Letting go is tough. Saying a prayer for your beautiful daughter and my son. Maybe they should meet? lol B

Yup, similar milestones here. Son starter law school, daughter senior year of college, another daughter senior year of high school. I've noticed a lot of blogs the last week or two noting big transitions. Good post.
