Our Annual 'Why we don't live in the snow-trip.'

Have you ever gone to the pet store with your children and held a new puppy? The kids were all around begging you to take this adorable little creature home with you? And maybe like me, you were smitten...for that moment, and took the puppy home. Only hours later wondering to yourself, "What in the world was I thinking?!?"

That is how it is every year when we go to the snow.

After only an hour on the hill, kids crying because they can't feel their feet, tears after tumbling down the slope on their faces...lost gloves, noses running,...I am pretty ready to go home.

We are blessed to have a dear family friend who lends us their cabin. It is the kids favorite family vacation and (minus the snow) it is ours too. Since we don't live in the snow, after twelve months of pretty warm weather, we are usually beside ourselves to get bundled up and hit the hills with our sleds.

These past four days were wonderful hanging out in the cabin, reading, watching movies and eating lots of junk food together. But once again, I take my hat off to you gals LIVING in the ice and snow. God Bless your hearts and homes.

You ladies are much more amazing than I give you credit for.

I think your family is much better loking in the snow than ours is! Besides - like you said, snow is fun when you don't deal with it all the time!

I know...I'm with you....I can't do that kind of snow either...I'm so cold natured that my body instantly freaks out and shuts down at the thought of it. I love it for maybe 24 hrs and then I want warmth again....(insert whining sound).

But, its beautiful and gorgeous and many "hats off" to our gals in the North.

Hugs~

I am right behind Mari in my comment... My family CHRISTMAS pictures aren't as cute as your candid snow pictures. What's up with that?

Soooo glad you had a great time in the snow. And so jealous you're back in your 70 degree backyard GARDENING.

Yeah! I usually make it through the winter O.K. most of the time! This year however we have had far to many snow days to close together! At first it was great, but one a week for 5 weeks! NOT! There's a very good possiblity that school will be cancelled tomorrow as well! We are supposed to get anywhere from 6 to 12 inches! I am ready for Spring BIG TIME!!!!

What a great time! I'm sure it would get old kind of fast with all the runny noses and frozen tosies... but oh my gosh!!! I wish I was there! I cannot get ENOUGH of the cold or snow!! (I definitely live in the wrong 'neck of the woods'.)
But, glad you are all safely back to your cozy warm home. :)

I grew up in the south so I understand your warm vs snow attitude. I still like to see it snow but after a few minutes I am ready for the sunshine.

I went skiing once and did not like it. I couldnt feel my feet and my hair was frozen to my head.

Salty oceans and gritty sand, I can smell it now

Oh what fun! Trust me, coming from someone who LIVES in the cold...I think we get use to it...because we are FROZE all the time.

Glad you enjoyed your little get-a-way.
