Feeling a little sentimental today...

This is a picture of my son David. It was taken on his seventh birthday, when he was just about half the age that he is now. While sitting in church together on Sunday he put his hand in mine. It was then that we both realized, his hands are now bigger than mine. This precious little boy who I cuddled and kissed, who would do anything in the world for his mommy, is now almost standing eye to eye with all five foot six of her.

His father took him down to sign up for Freshman football this evening. We are both very hesitant about him playing to begin with, but it is what he wants to play and we told him that if he did well in school and got a 3.0 GPA we would consider letting him play. His father, my husband is the Freshman football coach for the high school he will be attending next year which makes David want to play even more. What is going on here? My son is going to play high school football? When did my baby start growing up?

You know how us mom's, every once in awhile stop and realize that our children are no longer small little itty bitties anymore?

Today is that day for me.

Oh friend... my heart aligns with yours today.

My oldest seems too old for me and he is just 8.

Realizing this makes me want to wake them up this morning to head to the park... yes, maybe playing at the park will cause them to remain YOUNG.

I remember people always saying, enjoy them, they grow up so quickly. How true that is. All of a sudden you look and you wonder where did time go?

They truly do grow up too fast. What a cutie he was- and still is! Give him an extra hug!

Oh no that makes me want to cry - I am so sentimental anyway and the thought of my boys having hands bigger than mine is just TOO much!!
Ok now I need a tissue!

My kids grown way too fast and they are still at almost half that age! Such precious times we are blessed to share with these little ones :)

He is so cute! It is hard that they grow up too fast. It is nice that you give responsibility as he gets older too. Sometimes we wonder how much we should give them. My daughter will soon be done with her Juniour year and she keeps telling me, "I AM ALMOST A SENIOR".

My David is just finishing his freshman year. I can hardly believe it. They are a blessing though at every age. I just cannot believe that I am getting no older!!

Enjoy them.

I look at Emerson (2) and then at Elliot (20) and smile. Tonight I was reading to Emerson before bed, and Elliot came and snuggled in and said these were his favorite times growing up. I smiled and said we still do this, only you buy the book, read it, call me from college and say mom go buy this book and read it so we can talk about it.

Blessings as you enter this new season for you and your precious son. This next season goes faster than the last one.

Oh my, do I remember the agony of watching my son play football! Its hard, but boys just want to do that sort of thing, don't they?

I know how you feel when you find your little boy's hand is bigger than yours! Time passes so quickly and they grow up so soon! It sounds like you enjoy your children so much!

We must enjoy and savor each moment. Bless you as you parent these gifts from above. I believe that being a parent is one of life's highest callings!
