Hallelujah I'm cured!

There is a dream that I have had for quite sometime. It is to live in a beautiful cottage home with wrap around porches on acreage. Of course this acreage will have a view of the Sierra Nevada snow capped mountains. In this dream world, there will be oak trees on this property, and one with a tire swing hanging from its tall limb. On this property there will be a pond with a wooden dock so that my boys can sit on it while fishing, barefoot just like Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn would. My garden would have a white picket fence around it and a tall arbour and white garden gate.

In the real world I don't live on acreage but in a neighborhood. I can't scream at my children without being heard by my neighbors. I have no wraparound porch and no tire swing. We live on a third of an acre and this last weekend I worked on our yard, both front and back. We had six yards of tanbark delivered for our front yard and three yards of small rocks for various areas that I am sick and tired of sending the kids out to weed. A pack mule has never worked as hard as I did this weekend. After such back breaking work outside I am cured.

I no longer want acreage.

There is still a huge mound of rocks in my driveway. I think they are multiplying like rabbits while we sleep at night. I am having family over this weekend for a BBQ and am thinking I might just spray paint the rock pile purple and call it art.

I worked my bum off this weekend too. I'm sore but it looks so nice- it was worth it!

Yup, I'm over it too. I no longer want a large house on acreage. I can't even get ahead of the work that is to be done here.

I am praising the Lord for better health at the moment.

Nothing like back breaking work to make you appreciate what you already have!

That's funny about painting the rock purple and calling it art. Hey, why not make them work fro their meal. One bucket up rocks dispersed for each course of a meal!

How's about that.

Me too! I didn't work as hard as you but planting flowers really works those leg muscles!

When you are all done, you will be so proud of your efforts. I am sure it will look awesome. Remember its terrific exercise!

I grew up on land and miss it, although your post reminded me of the work that goes with it. Enjoy your BBQ!

I have a dream, a little house in town overlooking a lake (but not on it)...so do-able...not like all those acres we have.

I am grateful for our farm, but honestly, I keep looking at my husband and asking, how are we going to do it when Ethan graduates in 2 yrs????

We'll have to rent a kid!!

Once I get past the elephant of spring work, then I enjoy it... mostly:-)

Isn't perspective eye opening?!?!?
Be careful for what you ask for, you might just get it.
Smiles!

My husband and I had a conversation about acreage last night - he wants it, I don't. He works tons of hours, which means the girls and I are the ones dealing with it - not fun. I am happy with my little spot of grass :) Although it is a huge blessing when the girls have land to roam...
