Happy Mother's Day Friends!

First off, let me wish all of you moms and future moms out there a very Happy Mother's Day.

I will be getting up with my family to make the early service at church, then we're off to my mother in law's for lunch. That should be fun. I've been blessed with a wonderful Step-mom, Linda, and mother-in-law, Jane. I'm working on Sunday evening from 11pm - 7am for a friend who is taking the night off. I do hope she has a beautiful time with her little one and hubby, getting to sleep at night like a normal person.

If you are planning to make a special Mother's Day post, please make sure and head over to Angie's at The Knightly News and join the fun! She is hosting a mother's day meme that you must join. That way I can read about your special day and the very special mother who raised you up.

The picture below was taken in 1979, after the birth of my baby brother George. I'm the oldest with the hippy-dippy long hair. My sister Jennifer has a Mork from Ork shirt on...remember those? And my sister Amy is just waiting to hold her baby brother. There are lots of things I don't remember, but that day I remember clearly. Thankfully, I have my own children to keep my mind off of the sadness I can feel on Mother's Day when I think of her. She died from cancer nine years ago, at the age of 54. So, before I hit the hay, I will give you five things I miss about my mother.

1. I miss calling my mom about the trivial and laughing about the ridiculous.

2. I miss sharing news about my kids with her. She would have loved that Meg received two scholarships at her award banquet last week.

3. I miss smelling vanilla candles and Jean Nate. Quite a delicious combination!

4. I miss talking with her about family and the hurts I know she would make better.

5. I miss hearing her joyful "Hi Honey" when I walked in her house for a visit.

For those of you who have your moms on this side of Heaven...cherish every moment. And for those of you who have little ones to hug tight....cherish every moment.

Motherhood is a precious and miraculous gift from God.

Happy Mother's Day Joanne!

I truly enjoy your site very much.

As I read down through your listing of things you missed about your mother, I was reminded of other things as well I missed about mine...and oh the smell of Jean Nate, now that really brings back memories!

Hugs,
Alleluiabelle

I wish you were my mom, but I'm happy to settle for "my friend"...
AND thanks for working for me tonight...
In your honor, I will be sure to enjoy the time with the woman I helped to achieve "crazy mom" status...thank you for the reminder to appreciate just having her with me...Shortcomings and all, we can enjoy each other in spite of the rocky times we have been through...You have helped correct my focus yet again!

Happy Mother's Day ---I loved reading the things you miss about your mom---I think I need to rewrite the tribute to my mom, who I am blessed to still have with me. Thanks for the reminder to not take little things for granted

Amen. I do value each day I have my Mom here on earth. Even though she lives clear across the US from me, I love how technology makes it so easy to keep in contact.

Happy Mother's Day.

I am traveling about an hour tomorrow to be with my mom. I'm picking up fresh strawberries on the way so that we can make our annual "jam" for the year. Then off to lunch wherever she wants. I do cherish these special times I have with her. She's in good health, and I hope to have her for many years to come.

Blessings to you this week, friend.

What a sweet picture! I love your mom's expression and your sister all eager to hold the baby.

My mom is still alive, for which I am thankful, but my dad is with Jesus now. You're right, we need to cherish them while we have them.

Your post made me cry. I'm sorry you don't have your Mom to call anymore. I know I will miss hearing the sound of my parent's voices one day.

God bless you Joanne. Happy "belated" Mother's Day.

Oh Joanne---how my heart weeps for those who do have a mom on the other side of this life...the blessing in that is that they will be joined again---but to miss your mom has got to be the biggest ache a heart can feel.

I am thankful that mine is still here---and I am BLESSED because the LORD has crossed our lives...and I will GLADLY and with MUCH LOVE introduce you to my mother and she will gladly take you under her wing of mothering until we get HOME.

I love you---thank you for joining us for the Mother's Day celebration!
