Teenager for sale.

Why? Because we said so.

How come? Because we love you.

Why are you and Dad so strict? We're sorry you feel that way.

Why don't you trust me? It's not you we don't trust.

Brittany is going, why can't I? We'd tell Brittany “no” too, if we were her parents.

You don't want me to have fun. Yes, that's it.

You don't care about me. You've found us out.

Are you trying to make my life miserable? You've uncovered our dastardly plan!

You and Dad aren't like other parents, you are way too old fashioned. What can we say, we're overachievers.

Are you trying to ruin my teenage years? How did you guess? Your dad and I wake up thinking of ways to ruin your life.

...and this is why animals eat their young.

Oh my Joanne! We are beyond the teenage years here, but OH how I do remember and this brought back, should I say FOND memories?

Now I find myself saying, "Remember when you were a teenager and what you were feeling and some of the things you did, that by the way, I DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT?.....Now you can see where I was coming from as you look at your little boys and have their futures to help mold in your hands." Then I get the response from both of my grown children, "Yes, I see what you mean. I don't want them to grow up and go to school."

Love you,
Alleluiabelle

Oh Joanne were your ears ringing yesterday? I went to church with Carolyn yesterday and we both thought of you...Pastor John's teaching was titled "Celebrating Mean Moms"! You are not mean...you are doing your job and great job at that!

Looking back at my past (it's a messy past), I so wish my parents would have said NO more often. So many regrets and wondering where were they and what were they thinking letting me do some of the terrible things that I did?!

You and Paul are awesome parents and although they are mad today, I can predict and Mother's Day 10 years from now with praise and thanks from grown children who will understand that you did what you did because you love them!

HAHAHAHAHA!!! That sounds verbatim like a conversation I had with my mom when I was about 15 or 16. Being a teenager (a CHIRSTIAN teenager, with loving, responsible parents) is a hard age. Hang in there though...you're doing the right thing! If I could tell my mom "thanks" I would!

You're a hoot, woman. I dream of the day that I am restored to beloved and I can casually laugh off similar stressfull situations with m-i-l.

This conversation does make me remember how young teens do feel...thinking their parents think nothing but about how to ruin their lives.

Yep, sounds like the conversations at my house.

Yiiiiikes...we have 3 girls under 6, and I get waves of panic thinking of them all being teenagers at the same time...
