Why?

"Why?" The word alone can send even the most sane mother into early menopause. If I had a nickel for every time one of my children asked me "Why?" I could buy a one-way ticket to my early 30's.

For fun, I thought I'd turn the tables and share a few personal why's from my own middle-aged treasure trove.

Why do I crave 1,000 calorie treats right before bed?

Why does a line come to a screeching halt the moment I stand in it?

Why am I the only one who can figure out how to change a roll of toilet-paper?

Why does everyone in my home come to me when they're hungry? (Including my husband.)

Why do I sit behind my steering wheel ONLY when the gas guage reads empty?

Why does the pastor talk directly to me during every Sunday sermon?

Why do my pants seem to be getting smaller?

Why can't I figure out how to use my cell phone?

Why wasn't blogging around seventeen years ago when I was a new mom?

I'm with you on the 1000 calorie treats before going to bed. My list of "why's" exhaust me. Today my biggest "why" is this...

Why does it hurt my heart to "let go" of my twenty year old as he flies to Bolivia this afternoon for a 10 day mission trip?

There are a whole new set of why's when you go into...shall we say beyond middle age....Why can't I remember why I came in this room? Why do I still see me in my mind, but when I look in the mirror, I see my mother? Oh...and why can't I figure out my cell phone?.... It's all in the wonder of life. Neat post....

Frankly, I've wondered much of the same questions myself? Why can't I eat like I used to? Why do my children have to grow up? Why does chocolate have to taste so good?

Great list! Why can't cashiers make change anymore without a machine? Why can't I remember phone numbers anymore? Why do people walking through a parking lot completely disregard the cars that are waiting on them? Why does chocolate have so many calories? Lisa~
