What Has God promised you? Is there something specific He has whispered to your heart He would do? Do you feel like His promise is so big and wonderful it couldn't possibly be for you? What is holding you back? Why aren't you taking Him at His word?
Why haven't you finished what you started for Him?
I have been feeling the sweet nudgings of my Lord to finish the book He put on my heart to begin last year. I have written eight chapters of a twenty chapter book, sent off book proposals and I'm far from finished. My friend Celia has offered to let me write in her home in the woods not too far from where I live. This means I will be able to head over there one day a week and sit on her wooden deck overlooking the most beautiful pine trees in our area. I am looking so forward to it. We just finalized my writing plans last week.
And then I read my devotion yesterday.
When I finished up the Book of Acts for my morning devotion, the most natural for me would have been to continue on and read the Book of Romans. But, for awhile 2 Corinthians kept coming up in my day to day goings on. So, I went there instead. This was the verse I read yesterday;
And in this I give advice: It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago; 11 but now you also must complete the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have.
2 Corinthians 8:10-11
He has spoken to me loud and clear. I am feeling quite inadequate for the job at hand, but I am going to take Him at His Word.
What about you?

Praying for you dear one.
Right now God is asking me to take a step of faith one day at a time. To Trust that He is taking care of everything.
On a slightly different note, last year for my birthday, I sent in a children's book manuscript. Doing it was a birthday present to myself. It has been the desire of my heart since I was 6. I spent 3-4 months preparing. I prayed. I walked in faith that God grants us the desires of our heart.
I sent it out in August, in February, Tricycle Press sent a note asking me to cut the word count down and send them anything else I have.
Then they were bought by Random House. I'm still walking in Faith, trusting that God grants us the desires of our hearts!
What an encouraging post! Thank you!
Wow! This was timely! I am just sitting here wondering if I should pursue this course of publication. I prefer writing short blogposts, and was thinking how much easier it would be to continue with that and forgo the book.
A year ago, we were at She Speaks together praying over your publisher meeting. Now we are further along (you are further than me!) and continuing on His journey. Your scripture verse could not have come at a better time.
Thank you, sweet sister! It's Thursday - let's talk!!!!
That verse is awesome! God is awesome! That is so cool He has given you such a confirmation! He is so good!
What perfect timing with that verse! Love it!
Joanne, I read this post the other day, but today I thought of you for some reason and this is what came to mind - Write the book! All roads are U-turns until we do what God is telling us to do!
In His grace,
Charlotte
Wow, that scripture and the timing is utterly amazing! Sounds like you have an ideal spot to write. I pray that as you show up to finish the work you've begun, God's spirit will show up in a powerful way and the words will pour forth like water.
