OUR RADICAL SABBATICAL

Last year on New Years Eve, my girlfriend and I commiserated over our disgust in our 'captivity of activity'. This conversation was the spark needed for what became a year long family experiment. Our 'Radical Sabbatical' had begun. All of 2007, our family went on a journey together. We cut out all outside activities to make time for things like, well, being a family.

The Christian writers website 'Writer Interrupted' will be posting a two part story of our year long journey on Friday and Saturday this week.

I pray not only that you will be blessed, but that it may encourage others to do something as crazy as taking a 'Radical Sabbatical' for themselves.

I'll be interested in what you have to say. It's a good idea, but takes guts!

Wow, I am enjoying your blog. I found you through "This Little Blog of Mine". Your sabbatical sounds incredible, I wish I had thought of something similar when my kids were a bit younger. Most of our activities revolve around our church but even that can get overwhelming at times. Thanks for sharing and I will continue to follow your blog. Blessings in the new year!!

Can't wait to read it Joanne!

And, about the comment you left for me on my post about 30 years - you've got a deal!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. It's nice to "meet" other Christian mom/dispatchers :D I've added you to my bloglines!

That is awesome. I love a family that will step out of the box and do something great. I would love for you to be part of my bible study over at my blog. I think you would have a lot to add. I would love to hear from. thank you, vanessa

Amen sister! i'm all about simplifying and slowing down to be with our families! God did a number with me regarding this about 4-5 years ago. And, thank goodness He did. We've never been the same! Can't wait for the read....remind me ok?! :)

Have a great weekend friend~

I just found your site. My husband is a pastor and we took a two month sabbatical in 2007. It was new to us and AMAZING! I'm looking forward to reading in the future.
