7 Weird Things About Me...

Rebekah from Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe and Mari from My Little Corner of the World have tagged me to share seven weird things about myself. I thought it was going to be easy, but apparently I have become so accustomed to my weirdness that it all seems normal now. So my seven weird things aren't weird to me whatsoever...but you may think so.
The rules are as follows: Simply link to the person who tagged you. SHARE SEVEN WEIRD things about yourself. Tag SEVEN bloggers to do the same AND include a link to their blog. Let each person know that they have been tagged and finally post the rules on your blog. I am tagging all the gals in my 'Blogs that bless my heart...' Some of you are there because you are a little weird already!

1) My husband and I talk in police phonetics at times around our children. For example, if we are all in the car and I get an idea to take them to ice cream, instead of saying this out loud, I would say, "Paul what do you think about stopping for an IDA-CHARLES-EDWARD, CHARLES-ROBERT-EDWARD-ADAM-MARY?"

2) If I am lost in thought while listening to someone speak, I will often trace figure eights around my lips with my thumb.

3) I would rather have peanut butter than chocolate.

4) My favorite way to eat pancakes is with lots of salted butter and heaps of brown sugar.

5) I would listen to ANYONE and I mean ANYONE, share their testimony or life story.

6) Back to the police code thing...we also talk in California Penal code...for example if I see someone that I think is intoxicated, instead of saying, "Paul lets get out of here before the hostess puts a lampshade on her head." I will say, "Paul, this X is 647f." Or if I see an older gentleman staring at my teenage daughter to the point where I am becoming concerned. Instead of saying, "Paul, lets eat at this table way over here, that guy over there is a total pervert." I will say, (while moving my eyes in the direction of the icky dude.) "Paul..288" It is our personal bilingual language and one we use often.

7) I do all things in excess (except clean the shower). I have been introduced to fresh sweet potatoes and yams for the very first time this year. (I know you southern gals are going to be shocked at that statement!) All of my past experiences were canned and caused a quick and hard gag reflex. Why didn't anyone tell me the fresh ones were so delicious? Seriously, I have had at least eight this month. I microwave them for a fast lunch...yummy!

You are strange - peanut butter over chocolate? I think the police code would be quite handy though!

I'm getting caught up on your blog. I'm going to read the prayer request now. I just saw it below.

This was so interesting to read! I can't believe the whole police code thing...I'd be so slow at it!

I am with you on the peanut butter. Havent tried brown sugar on pancakes, maybe I should.

So we could have a conversation with you and your husband... but we talk in Indiana code...hmmm that might be confusing.

I had a friend in FL that dispatched and our 10-7 code was completely different from his 10-7.
His 10-7 meant they were in the bathroom.

Mmmm ... sweet potatoes. Wrapped in foil and oven baked like potatoes, served with brown sugar, butter and cinnamon... I know what we're having with dinner tomorrow night!

Found you through Family Friendly blogroll. :)

I don't remember how I found you, one blog leads to another, but I really enjoyed 'flipping through the pages' of your blog! :) I love the police talk. My husband is a police officer, but I don't know many codes. I could only say very few things, none of which I would ever need to say in the normal course of my life! :) Are you guys in law enforcement as well? (...now realizing there are other jobs that would require knowledge of the penal code!) Anyways, I've loved running across all these inspiring blogs by Christian women- thanks for sharing yours! -Megan

Thanks for popping by my blog! I've been working down the Family Friendly Blogroll for a couple of weeks, just seeing who's out there, and I love your blog. But I won't pour myself a cup of tea. May I sip coffee while you have your tea? :)

MEGAN...I tried leaving you a comment on your blog but couldn't get on.

Yes, my husband is a former police officer. He is now an attorney but DOES NOT do criminal defense law or family law. His prior police experience has made that decision for him, he just can't.

I am a part time 911-police dispatcher.

Hope you stop by again!

Joanne

Your post has made me wonder what 7 weird things I would list about myself.

The one that comes to mind at this moment is...

if there is a buy one get one free sale for meat at the grocer... I will be the person standing at the cooler sorting through all meat packages until I find two packages the same price. (As the lesser of two meat packages is free and I don't want to "OVERPAY")

How weird is that???

And now that I think of it... I find it particularly strange that I write my to do list for the next day in the shower with my kids tub crayons.

I think I better stop there as I'm beginning to sound like a freak.
:0)

Hi Joanne! My husband is on a gang unit in a pretty gnarly area. He and my family convinced me to make my blog private (invite-only), saying someone could run across it and recognize him, yada yada... what are the chances!?! And before it was private, I never had any identifying info anyways, and never even mentioned his line-of-work. But they scared me enough to make it private. I would love to send an invite to you. (You can email me with your email address. RNMeg@cox.net, or reply to this comment if you want, as I've subscribed to this post's comments.) I loved reading through your blog, and actually linked to it in my last post, quoting part of one of your posts. (Hope that's okay!)
P.S. LOVE your playlist!!!
