Friends

Friend: 1.One who is attached to another by affection; one who entertains for another sentiments of esteem, respect and affection which lead him to desire his company, and to seek to promote his happiness and prosperity.

This picture was taken last Fall when five of us moms took our teenage daughters to the Revolve Tour. This is in the hotel room, after the sugar high had set in.

My hearts desire with this post is to share a bit about friends. Not the precious ones you see with me above, but 'blog friends'....

I found it a 'God-incidence' that the scripture on my sidebar tonight, while I was adding all of my blog buddies to my redecorated site was "Iron sharpeneth iron, so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend." Proverbs 27:17

This scripture means exactly what it says. The influence of a godly friend can improve your life for the better. My Walvoord and Zuck commentary explains the scripture above this way, "When iron is rubbed against another piece of iron it shapes and sharpens it. Similarly people can help each other improve by their discussions, criticisms, suggestions, and ideas."

I just love that!

What a wonderful definition of what you blog gals do for me. My blog originally started out as an exercise just to work on my writing. A daily writers' sit-up if you will. What I discovered instead was an example.. yet again, of our Father's exceeding and abundant blessing on my life.

In my un-blog world, I have so many dear friends and even one bestest girlfriend. I never knew how your lives would touch mine. I wish I had enough time to post about how special each one of you have been. (Gotta wrap this up, hubby has already hit the sack!)

Instead, I am just going to point everyone who comes to my blog this weekend to take a peek at the column to the right of this post, titled 'Blessed Blogs'. There they will find a beautiful myriad of godly women who desire not only to draw near to Jesus, but to encourage one another to be the sharpest piece of iron in their friends' lives and their savior's hands.

I am so Blessed...

Oh I love that verse!!! I put it on several stones for the ladies in my summer bible study! We would get together and just sharpen each other in the Word! It was awesome! Ditto back at you on being Blessed! I love your blog and how it blesses my heart each time I stop by! God has used your blog and others to encourage, instruct, and correct me so many times! I am better for it!

HERE I AM FRIEND.

True- I haven't commented since Wednesday but I have read EVERY day... HONEST.

As for the visual change in my blog... it's nothing glamorous (like yours)... it's just a generic picture stored in my computer AND a new black template from blogger. Took seconds... really.

And as for your post- 1. I'm jealous and a bit sad that I am not in that picture OR at that conference with you and the other moms. (We need to work on that.) 2.Iron sharpening iron is exactly how I would describe our friendship and for that I am SO GRATEFUL. and 3. It is us, on this side of your blog, that are BLESSED!!!

Love you friend.
Chelle'

PS. IF as a continuation of your blog makeover you opt to remove the word verification for comments... I won't complain. (wink-wink)

I have been so blessed by my blogging friends too. I am not a writer, but because my sisters kept telling me too - I started a blog. I never expected to find the friends I have while doing this and count you among the best! Great post!
PS - how is your Dad? I hope he is feeling better.

I feel honored to be on your list Joanne, thank you! Funny, how this simple lil post made my day. I've been tired, kids have been either fighting or running around yelling at top volume, and my hubby is working OT today. I was having a pity party but you've lifted my spirits.
God bless you my bloggy friend!

I finally sat down and took the time to respond to all of the people who have commented on my blog (it's better than thinking about stupid boy!!). I feel so incredibly blessed that people have offered words of support, advice and love ... then I come over here and that's exactly what you're talking about.

God is good.

Thanks new friend.

I am so glad you came by my blog a few months back and introduced yourself. I have enjoyed getting to know you and your family.

You are encouraging and a blessing.

I wish someday we could sit down and chat- life, work, love politics, Christ.

Have a wonderful day

I am blessed to be included in this list of truly wonderful women. It's been great to make so many new "bloggy" friends. I loved this post. You bless me too! Gotta love it when women of God come together to encourage and uplift one another.

BTW... I have a new Saturday meme that I would love for you to check out and participate in and help to spread the word.

Have a "blessed" week.

I agree, Joanne. I've been blessed and surprised by the fellowship I have found in the blogging world. I'm so glad to have met you too! When we get to heaven, we'll have to have a party. It can be at my mansion! Okay?
