Mount Hermon Update

Hi everyone! I'm writing you from the central lounge at Mount Hermon. The campus is slowly waking up and people are beginning to gather around the old brick fireplace with their morning coffee.

As an aspiring writer, I'm surrounded by a great cloud of living, breathing witnesses here. For example, I'm sitting next to Marcus Goodyear writer for the online sight The High Calling. Across from me is novelist James Scott Bell. At the table beside him is Harvest House acquisitions editor Nick Harrison. Rick Steele with AMG, is at the table beside him. On the other side of the room is one of my favorites, Wesleyan Pub editor and author James Watkins.

I'm meeting this morning with author Karen O'Connor. Finally getting a few minutes to pick her brain about the publishing world. She's been my advanced nonfiction teacher this week. A tough cookie with a heart of gold. Later this evening I am meeting with author Kay Marshall Strom. Her words yesterday during the Palm Sunday service pierced my heart. She shared a story about one of her former 3rd grade Sunday school students and how the children in her class told him the story of Easter. I wept. ALOT. When three hundred writers lifted up their voices and sang Amazing Grace I wept again.

So much more I can't wait to share with you. But, breakfast is calling!

Joanne, I'm glad you're having such a wonderful, fruitful time. What fun to sit in the lounge soaking up the atmosphere with people such as JSB and Nick Harrison nearby. I took their workshop last year and learned heaps.

I hope your appointments with Karen and Kay go well. I look forward to hearing how things went.
